Workman slipped down stairs in accident at work
A man, who sustained injuries to his wrist due to an accident at work when he fell down some hazardous steps, has been successful in his personal injury compensation claim this month.
It was heard that the man, who remains unnamed, was walking down a set of stairs, when he fell, due to them being covered in dirt, oil and grease on the edging strips. The man fell quite a way down the steps and sustained numerous injuries to his back, wrist and ankle.
The man was taken to hospital, and medical staff found that the injury to his wrist was severe and he had to undergo an operation to help repair the damage. The man was unable to work for nearly a year and, as a result of this, he lost a considerable amount of his pension contributions and earnings. The injured man has also incurred costs for his medication for injuries, care and assistance during his long recovery, as well as travel costs.
After the accident at work occurred, the injured workman contacted his legal team and they pursued a personal injury compensation claim on his behalf against his employers. The workman felt that they were responsible for his injuries as they did not have a suitable cleaning regime in place to ensure the health and safety of their employees. The man was awarded £20,000 in compensation for injury.
